The Carolina Panthers needed all the help they could get in 2024. They traded away Diontae Johnson, who had been starring for them, and first-round pick Xavier Legette needed some time to settle in. Meanwhile, undrafted rookie Jalen Coker pleasantly surprised many with his play. Coker has an excellent combination of size, speed, and route running, which he was able to show off in 2024. This is the dynasty outlook for Jalen Coker.
Jalen Coker: Dynasty Outlook For Panthers Wide Receiver
Current Production
Coker came out of nowhere this past season. While his total numbers seem tame, he has 32 receptions, 478 yards, and two touchdowns; he only played 11 games while dealing with a quarterback change. His fantasy production was limited, averaging 8.3 fantasy points per game, but he did have three games with over ten points and flashed talent when given the opportunity.
Once Coker returned from a quad injury in Week 15, he played over 80% of snaps in every game until the end of the season. He has good chemistry with Bryce Young, and the organization rates him highly. His numbers aren’t eye-popping, but he’s shown he has a great skillset. His 478 receiving yards were tenth among rookies despite his injuries.
Coker Dynasty Price
KeepTradeCut lists Coker as the WR55 in dynasty. While that doesn’t seem very impressive, it is considering Coker was the WR216 (essentially unranked) until October, when he slowly made his rise. His overall rank on KeepTradeCut is close to a late second-round pick in 2026 and a mid-second-round pick in 2027.
Coker’s price is likely to increase once the season rolls around. Adam Thielen is 34 and in the last year of his contract, and Coker’s increased usage near the end of the season is extremely promising. For now, Coker is behind fellow youngster Legette in the pecking order, but it could be a 1A, 1B situation. Legette is more of an athlete and vertical threat, but Coker’s all-around game is more refined.
Coker Dynasty Outlook
Coker’s numbers will increase in 2025 simply by being available. It is also extremely common for second-year players to take a massive leap after a relatively productive rookie season; Josh Downs and Zay Flowers are examples of that in 2024. Bryce Young looks more confident and accurate since returning from his stint on the bench, and his progression will only aid Coker.
The issue with Coker is that the wide receiver position is so deep, and he is still so young. It may still be another year or two before he fully breaks out, but there’s no doubt he’ll have a substantial role on the Panthers offense in 2025. He’d do well to finish as a WR3 for now, but the potential to finish in the top 30 is there.
What to Do With Jalen Coker in Dynasty Leagues
Managers who were able to pick up Coker should be very pleased. It is phenomenal to have a rookie come from nothing to now being worth, at worst, a third-round pick. Hold on to Coker for 2025 and reassess at the end of next season.
