The Kansas City Chiefs have once again proved why they are three-time Super Bowl Champs, though their 2024-25 started with a nailbiting bang.
Led by Patrick Mahomes, the squad played Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore City Ravens in the first game of the season.
The Ravens trailed most of the night, thanks to Mahomes’s new speeding first-rounder, Xavier Worthy, who appears to be filling the massive hole left by now-Miami Doplhin Tyreek Hill.

The speedy UT-Austin product put on a show in his NFL debut, scoring two touchdowns, including a 21-yarder and a 35-yard pass he caught from Mahomes with little more than 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
“We ran that in the preseason, and I fumbled. So it was kind of bad, but for them being able to have that trust in me [was great],” he said afterward. “I told [offensive coordinator Matt] Nagy that I think this play is going to score and it happened. So it was an amazing moment my first touchdown in the NFL.”
However, you have to remember that Jackson is the reigning MVP, and he wasn’t going to give up as the clock dwindled.
Once the fourth quarter began, Jackson, known for his running abilities, scrambled out of the pocket and hit Isaiah Likely with a pass that set him up for a 49-yard touchdown.
The nailbiting moment came when the Ravens were at the Chiefs’ 10-yard line for one final play while still behind, 27-20.

But tight end Likely was able to pull in a pass from Jackson that would have tied up the given if they were able to make the extra point and send them to overtime.
But after catching it in the back of the endzone, Likely’s right foot was ever so slightly out of bounds, ruling the play dead. Jackson spoke about the moment at the post-game presser, obviously having his teammates think the refs made a bad call.
“I thought it was a touchdown. I still think it was a touchdown,” he remarked.
Mahomes took a funnier approach after first saying from his vantage point that it looked like a good catch before seeing the replay.
“That’s a great football team, and I’m sure we’ll see them again at some point in the playoffs,” he said. “We’re happy with the win now. He’s gotta wear white cleats next time. That’s my advice for him.”
