A couple of former Carolina Panthers coaches are set to interview for a couple of recent openings.
As first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero on Thursday morning, Steve Wilks is expected to talk with the Indianapolis Colts regarding their defensive coordinator position. Wilks split his seven seasons on Carolina’s sideline between two different tenures, with the second ending with an impressive 12-game run as the team’s interim head coach in 2022.
The Charlotte, N.C. native, most recently, served as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers during the 2023 campaign. But Wilks, despite helping the 49ers reach Super Bowl LVIII, would be let go at the end of the season.
Pelissero also reported that the Seattle Seahawks are planning on interviewing Thomas Brown for their offensive coordinator position. Brown’s first shot as an offensive coordinator came back in 2023 with Carolina.
After his one season with the Panthers, Brown joined the Chicago Bears as their passing game coordinator at the start of 2024. He’d later become the interim offensive coordinator and then the interim head coach following Chicago’s firings of Shane Waldron and Matt Eberflus.
