Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, the Panthers are trading Johnson and a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Ravens for a 2025 fifth-round pick.
Shipping Johnson to a new team was inevitable. Yesterday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter told Pat McAfee that he fully expected Johnson to be on a new team before the NFL trade deadline.
“Diontae Johnson, in my mind, is going to be traded by next week,” Schefter told Pat McAfee. “I don’t know whether it’ll be this week or next week, but I expect that Carolina and Diontae Johnson will part ways and each side will go its own way. The question is where he ends up, and I think he gets traded.”
Johnson, 28, is in the final year of his contract and will only make $3.5 million for the rest of the season. It’s a surprisingly cheap price for a player of Johnson’s caliber.
Johnson has 30 receptions for 357 yards and three touchdowns this season.

The Baltimore Ravens (5-3) add another weapon for Lamar Jackson and the offense.
Johnson will be worked into a Ravens offense that includes Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, Justice Hill, Mark Andrews, and Isaiah Likely.
Johnson should start right away for the Ravens on the outside.
The explosive Ravens offense ranks first in total yards (452.1), fifth in passing yards (252.1), first in rusing yards (200.0), and second in scoring (30.3 points).
The Ravens host the Denver Broncos (5-3) in Week 9.
