Let’s take a closer look at one of the prospects the Panthers could select in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Since it’s never too early to look forward to the NFL Draft, this weekly series will take a closer look at some of the prospects the Carolina Panthers could select in the 2025 iteration of the Draft. In this series, we’ll only be looking at prospects the Panthers could seriously consider. This week our profile will focus on LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell.
While the Panthers currently have some solid options at offensive tackle, Taylor Moton is no longer a spring chicken and is a $31 million cap hit next season. While cutting Moton this off-season would not be ideal (because of the $18 million in dead cap), it would free up about $12 million in cap space. More if he is cut post June 1st. I’m not advocating for this, just pointing out that it might happen. If it does, what better way to keep the offensive line a strength than by drafting another tackle? Enter Will Campbell from LSU, the almost unanimous top offensive tackle in the Draft.
Campbell has plenty of size at 6’6″, 320 lbs (though his arm length is a bit of a concern at the next level). Despite that size, he’s able to use his fluid athleticism and agility to stay strong in pass protection. He doesn’t give up many sacks (two heading into this season) and doesn’t commit many penalties (six before this year). He also has fantastic footwork, allowing him to thrive in the run and pass games. He also has the strength to man up on stronger edge defenders. While his hand placement and technique can be a bit inconsistent, overall he is a fantastic blocker with a ton of experience (over 1,600 snaps before this season). The Panthers could decide to take Campbell and move either him or Ikem Ekwonu to the right tackle spot if Moton is a cap casualty.
What do you think, Panthers fans? If Will Campbell is available when the Panthers select in the 2025 NFL Draft, should they take him? Sound off in the comments!
