Let’s take a closer look at one of the prospects the Panthers could select in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Since it’s never too early to look forward to the NFL Draft, this weekly series will take a closer look at some of the prospects the Carolina Panthers could select in the 2025 iteration of the Draft. In this series, we’ll only be looking at prospects the Panthers could seriously consider. This week our profile will focus on USC Trojans offensive lineman Jonah Monheim.
Obviously, the Panthers should not draft an offensive lineman at 8. But when their pick in the second round pops up, taking Monheim should be under consideration. He began his collegiate career playing tackle for the Trojans. He has shown improvement every year, getting All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention in 2022 before getting Second Team honors in 2023. This past season, he made the transition to center, showing off a deep understanding of the game and feel for protections.
While Monheim does not have elite power, he does have plenty of athleticism for the interior of the offensive line and enough to even play tackle in a pinch. He has fantastic pass protection technique and smoothness when his quarterback drops back. Monheim has also shown incredible dependability, logging a ton of snaps at both tackle spots, guard, and center and starting 34 games over three seasons. The biggest knock on Monheim is his lack of size, which plays into his struggles in run blocking. He just doesn’t have the pure power to create a lot of movement. Still, with Brady Christensen potentially leaving in free agency, the Panthers could look to replace him by taking Monheim.
What do you think, Panthers fans? If Jonah Monheim is available when the Panthers select in the 2025 NFL Draft, should they take him? Sound off in the comments!
