Welcome back to Thursday Night Football
Thursday Night Football returns this week with an NFC East rivalry match up between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. These powerhouse teams (both 1-2) are considered by many in their respective fanbases as Super Bowl favorites. Others around the NFL put them on the same level as the Carolina Panthers, the Denver Broncos, and the Las Vegas Raiders—all teams that are also 1-2 after three weeks of football. All Thursday night games kick off at 8:15 ET on Prime Video.
As always in our brave new world of expansive sports gambling, it is now easier to bet on games than to watch them. You can catch current odds on all NFL games for Week 1 here on FanDuel.
As for the game tonight, two NFC East power houses are trying to enter the conversation in their division. Both teams stand a game behind the 2-1 Philadelphia Eagles and the 2-1 Washington Commanders. Exactly as everyone predicted.
The Giants will try to shy away from matching weakness against strength by limiting Daniel Jones’ exposure against a crack Dallas passing defense. They’ll look to follow the New Orleans Saints’ game plan and lean heavily on their running game. The Cowboys have one of the worst run defenses in the league.
This game plan only works if head coach Brian Daboll can stay patient, even if the Cowboys build an early lead. The weakness along Dallas’ interior defensive line gives me hope that Daboll and Jones can find ways to move the football regardless of the game situation. This isn’t going to be a blowout for either team, but I think the Giants are going to have an easier time sustaining drives and that is why I am picking the New York Giants to win tonight.
As always, use this space to talk about the action as it unfolds.
You know the drill.
This is now an open thread!
