CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — Much like former Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer, Dan Quinn’s reputation was enhanced by the Seattle Seahawks’ run from a decade ago.
Granted quarterback Russell Wilson was their headline maker, but it was Quinn’s “legion of boom” that proved to be the heart of team.
In Quinn’s two years as defensive coordinator, the Seahawks utilized a strong secondary to the tune of two Super Bowl appearances. While they failed to make it back-to-back titles in 2015, Seattle’s defensive success was good enough to get Quinn his first head-coaching job with the Falcons.
Using his trademark fast and physical style, Quinn turned a Falcons team whose defense finished dead last in 2014 into a contender. But after suffering the worst collapse in Super Bowl history, Quinn slowly but surely wore out his welcome, and after a 0-5 start in his sixth season with the team in 2020, Quinn was sent packing.
The following year, Quinn would land on his feet, taking a job in Dallas as the defensive coordinator. He’s been with the Cowboys for three seasons, with the team making the playoffs each year.
Now however, with all the head-coaching interviews he’s received after every season, many feel it’s only a matter of time before the 53-year-old is bumped back up to the big chair.
