Welcome to Brian Answers, part two of your weekly Panthers fan mailbag for everyone! This week, I am answering all of your questions related to the Panthers next win over the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. For some reason Walker thinks nobody would say that, but he gives me a place to voice my opinions. So either his judgment is flawed or he simply lacks the foresight that I do.
To recap, Brian Answers is the place where we answer all of your questions from earlier on in the week, which can be Panthers related, football related, or even completely off topic! Let’s dive in!
MtndancerSr: How many Mahomes/Kelce commercials will Panthers fans have to endure during the game?
As many times as the Panthers score either a TD or FG. So I’d say 10-15. Highest scoring game of the season imminent.
panthers2112: What will make more appearances, Taylor Swift or a good Bryce Young throw?
Taylor Swift appearing more than 25 times would honestly be impressive.
KeepPounding88: How will Brooks do in his first game?
I think anyone with high expectations should keep them tempered. Kansas City has one of the better defenses in the league at stopping the run, and Miles Sanders is still a thing. I’d be surprised if Brooks gets more than 5-6 touches as more on a change of pace back, especially since, like I said, Miles Sanders is still a thing that Dave Canales wants to make happen for some reason. But we might see an explosive play or two, and that would be pretty cool!
Good_Ol_Boy: In your opinion, which fanbase is the most obnoxious, Nawlens or Dallas?
While New Orleans fans seem to have retreated to whatever gumbo cave dwelling they come from, I would still put them above the Cowboys. Cowboys fans seem to just be frustrated with their team at this point, and things look pretty bleak for them in the near future. Give a Cowboys fan a hug today.
RebuildingSince95: Which Panthers rookie will have the most yards in this game? (I’d put my money on JaTavion Sanders)
I’m going with Jalen Coker. I’d imagine Xavier Legette and JT Sanders will command some attention, where this is a great opportunity for Coker to get some nice schemed in touches. Especially with Adam Thielen returning to the lineup. Their roles may be similar, but I think Coker will get the better matchups since AT should also command some attention as last year’s number one threat.
schrodingersblackcat: If he plays, how big of an impact will Thielen have in this game? Will he immediately return to being Bryce’s favorite target?
I actually think Adam’s absence may have done wonders for Bryce in regards to funneling targets to one guy. In my optimistic opinion, I think Thielen’s return will help the rookies around him, as he should still get a solid target share which would theoretically force the Chiefs to focus on him a little more. However, if the passing attack is a train wreck due to pass rush, him being on the field may not matter too much.
WanderingGnome: Did Walker’s article jinx Piniero? Is he now doomed to miss the game winning kick against the Chiefs?
It probably did. Walker also said that nobody would actually think that the Panthers would beat the Chiefs, which is just a lie. So he’s got double bad juju now.
egon petri: Which Panther is going to be the victim of the phantom PI/Defensive Holding/Unnecessary Roughness penalty in the last 30 seconds that gives the Chiefs yet another miraculous comeback victory?
Probably Mike Jackson. He’s been a nice story as a fringe roster guy who has actually played well opposite Horn in this not very good defense. I’m sure he’s due for some stupid stuff to make people blame him. He will also likely be targeted a lot.
bolshy: What is Brooks expected to bring to the passing game?
I’d expect many of the screen passes and swing passes Miles Sanders has seen throughout the season. How many of them though is a different question.
positivebob: KC is having trouble scoring points. Should the Panthers commit to stopping the run or stopping the pass? I don’t think they can do both.
As I mentioned in my defensive preview, the Chiefs surprisingly run the ball very frequently. They are one of the top teams as far as rushes per game. I think the best case scenario is the Panthers stop the run, and play the bend but don’t break off zone coverage and hope for the best in the passing game.
WFU: MaryAnn or Ginger?
That’s Mary Ann, to you.
That’s all for this week, Panthers fans! What food or beverage will you be enjoying after the Panthers get their third win in a row?
