Here’s part two of this week’s mailbag!
Hello CSR! Welcome to Brian Answers, part two of your weekly Panthers fan mailbag for everyone! It’s the bye week, I apologize for getting to this late this week, but if the Panthers can take a break so can I!
Thank you for your continued participation in the mailbag, I wouldn’t be able to do it without any questions to answer! To recap, Brian Answers is part two of our weekly fan mailbag, where you get all your questions earlier in the week answered. Let’s dive in!
Old_Gregg: Who starts at QB coming out of the bye?
Bryce Young was announced to be starting and I would expect him to continue to start for the rest of the season. There’s really no reason not to keep going with him since he’s showing some progress. The Panthers don’t need to put Andy Dalton back out there unless Bryce goes back to weeks 1+2 version.
Mozzie11: General thought is that a winning streak is a series of consecutive wins or successes, often measured by at least three wins without losses or ties.
Should we throw societal norms to the side and claim we are on a winning streak at least until the Chiefs game?
For the Panthers, two wins in a row has been a rare feat post Cam Newton/Ron Rivera, so we’re going to celebrate that. And don’t worry, they’ll be on an actual winning streak once they defeat the Chiefs next week.
@WTMealey: My question
Compare and Contrast Bryce and Daniel Jones. Or what does Bryce need to do to get the 6 years of grace that Jones has gotten?
I think Daniel Jones was afforded more time to develop and grow after throwing for over 3,000 yards and 24 TDs in his rookie season (though he did cough up 12 picks as well). That usually is enough to give a shiny new QB a few years of leeway. Then, in 2022 he had a good enough year. I was plenty shocked by the Giants giving him the extension they did, but he seemed to be on the upswing. So far, Bryce hasn’t come close to those kinds of numbers, but if he can continue his performance over the last two wins, I wouldn’t see a reason for the Panthers to entirely cut bait with him. Whether they bring in some form of competition is a different matter regarding 2025.
TLGPanthersFan: Been seeing a lot of people saying we say Alabama Bryce on Sunday. Do you agree even though his stat line was pretty much the same since he got here. Dude made some good throws but no team can win a Super Bowl with a QB that struggles to throw 200 yards a game.
I think the big difference is Bryce Young made throws and good plays, and didn’t cost the team the game. Don’t get me wrong, the Giants and Saints both share plenty of blame as to why those were wins for Bryce and not losses, but we are seeing more of the good from Bryce than we did in the first two weeks of the season. He’s still not navigating the pocket well and his footwork needs heavy improvement, but progress is progress.
TXPanther: Bryan Predicts:Panthers win total the rest of the way.Jonathon Brooks final stat line. Will the Panthers finally be a favorite against the Cowboys? How many points does the bye week score against the defense?
- Since the Panthers beating the Chiefs is a certainty at this point, I would say we can reasonably expect at least two more wins.
- If he can get over 400 yards and 3-4 scores I think we should be very happy, but it is tough to project until we start seeing some usage. Hopefully that starts this week.
- They might actually be, since Dak Prescott is now out for the season and the Cowboys have been atrocious.
- Zero. The Panthers defenders needed the bye and should come back a little healthier.
panthers2112: With the Giants considering benching Daniel Jones, who is the next person to lose their job to the career killer that is Bryce Young, and why will it be Mike McCarthy?
I live in Eagles/Steelers country, and we just so happen to have Philly on the schedule. For some reason Eagles fans continue to grind on Nick Sirianni despite an 8-2 record. If they don’t run the frickin bawl enough and somehow lose to the Panthers, they may riot and get him thrown out.
plancos: How many points will we beat the Chiefs by?
I think it’ll be a close game. So let’s say… 21 points?
KeepPounding88: Considering that Corbett suffered another serious injury, yet Christensen offers more value as a versatile backup, which one do you see us re-signing to be our starting center next year?
I would see no reason not to. The big question is going to be how Brady Christensen would be valued in free agency. A team might be willing to pay him tackle money. But if Brady is happy here and Carolina can finally just agree to put him in a spot and keep him there, he should be a priority re-signing in the off-season.
egon petri: Will the Chiefs game finally be the week where the screen to Ian Thomas works?
Ian Thomas having a career game in this statement win is just the kind of story that would warm my heart.
DannyLimes: Who beats the panthers in week 11? The Chiefs or the Zebras?
Neither. It will take an act of god for the Panthers to lose.
schrodingersblackcat: Would you rather watch an entire 12 hour day of nothing but Mahomes and Kelce commercials or re-watch Weeks 1 and 2 of Panthers football on repeat for 12 hours?
Tough call. I would say I’ll watch the commercials. At least I can buy stuff afterwards.
dayneB12: With the trade deadline over, why are the Panthers still holding on to Miles Sanders? It’s become clear he’s not useful in the run game and hurts the team more than helps.
Well for one, it would cost them money to release him. He’s not really hurting anything by being on the roster, aside from Dave Canales finding ways to scheme up touches for him. I am hoping Jonathan Brooks gets those touches or at least starts to moving forward.
Dcangio09: When will Panther fans accept that Bryce is the starter for the rest of the season and no determination will be made on him until the season is over?
It would help if reporters cough cough David would stop pestering Canales about the QB situation, and if Dave would just come out and say that Bryce is the starter moving forward. Maybe he will after this statement win against the Chiefs.
That’s all folks! Enjoy your weekend! And KEEP POUNDING!
