NBA Front Office Insider for ESPN, Bobby Marks joined Wes & Walker to explain why the Mark Williams trade was rescinded and how the Hornets can move forward with the situation. There has been a lot of shock and confusion from Hornets fans since seeing the news that the trade between the Hornets and Lakers which dealt Mark Williams to the Lakers for Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, a first-round pick and a pick swap in return was no longer going to go through. As if Hornets fans haven’t been through enough, the pain was increased after seeing a trade fail to go through that would have greatly benefitted the franchise for the future. The Hornets would not go down without a fight though, and have alerted the NBA that they would like to dispute the Lakers’ decision to say Mark Williams failed his physical assessment.
Bobby Marks joined Wes & Walker to answer questions and hopefully solve confusion around the shocking development. There were a few positive things to take away from this interview, as Bobby reassured Hornets fans that challenging the decision made by the Lakers to fail Mark Williams on his physical is the proper step to make. He also said that this does not reflect poorly on the Hornets’ medical staff and that there was no way that the Hornets could have intentionally hidden medical information from the Lakers. A growing concern from Hornets fans was also addressed as Bobby does not think this failed trade will negatively affect the Hornets’ ability to make fair trades in the future. The only negative news is that even though the Hornets are challenging the decision to rescind the trade, Bobby Marks thinks that ultimately their complaints will fall on the deaf ears of the NBA.
