The Carolina Panthers are 1-7 and haven’t taken the steps forward that they had hoped to take, after restructuring their front office after a disastrous 2-15 season, which led to the hire of Dave Canales, a young, up-and-coming offensive coordinator. Canales was brought in to get the most out of former first-round pick Bryce Young, but that hasn’t been the case at all, as Canales benched Bryce after two games, and only brought him back after Andy Dalton was involved in a minor car crash last week. Like Matt Rhule and Frank Reich, Canales has appeared at times, in over his head, and the stress of losing, is visible.

Earlier today, Adam Gold, host on 99.9 The Fan in Raleigh, joined the Mac & Bone Show, and he made it known that while he doesn’t think that Dave Canales is on the verge of getting fired, if he were to be fired, he’d support it. Gold expressed how disgusted he’s been with how Canales has handled the Bryce Young situation, setting the QB up to fail, and making it appear that he’s regressed from his rookie season.
There have been no rumors about Canales potentially losing his job in Carolina, as it would be the third straight season that David Tepper would’ve fired a head coach, but with Carolina on track to have the worst record in the league for a second straight season, you never know how the owner will respond.
Gold may work in the Triangle, but his opinion isn’t lost on the Panthers fan base, which is desperate to get back to their heyday of the 2010s, and at 1-7, that outlook is once again very bleak in Carolina.
