Welcome back to Thursday Night Football
Thursday Night Football returns this week with an NFC West rivalry matchup between the 2-3 San Francisco 49ers and the 3-2 Seattle Seahawks. Yup, exactly the records everybody predicted for both of these teams. This feels like a make-or-break game for the 49ers who have been struggling to figure out how to offense in the absence of Christian McCaffrey. All Thursday night games kick off at 8:15 ET on Prime Video.
As always in our brave new world of expansive sports gambling, it is now easier to bet on games than to watch them. You can catch current odds on all NFL games for Week 5 here on FanDuel.
As for the game tonight, the Seahawks are looking to put some space between themselves and the rest of the West with a divisional win over the 49ers. That breathing room is important because they have not been dominant in most of their wins. Geno Smith is playing decent football, but he is far from mistake free with his 5:4 touchdown to interception ratio.
Meanwhile, the 49ers have struggled to hold onto leads and are facing the kind of injury luck that has their players wondering, presumably, if they are in fact playing for the Carolina Panthers.
Momentum is in favor of the Seahawks here, but their wins have been too close for my comfort and I don’t believe that a Kyle Shanahan coached team is going to struggle for an entire season. That’s why I am picking the San Francisco 49ers to win tonight.
As always, use this space to talk about the action as it unfolds.
You know the drill.
This is now an open thread!
