Canes have a rough game in Buffalo
After losing to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday, the Carolina Hurricanes followed up by losing to the Buffalo Sabres, 4-2 in Buffalo on Wednesday night.
The Sabres are currently in last place in the Eastern Conference.
The Canes fell behind early once again as Ryan McLeod scored just 43 seconds into the game.
Buffalo would score twice more in the second, the second goal knocked in with just 3.5 seconds left in the period.
Down 3-0 in the third, the Canes finally started to cook.
Jaccob Slavin bounced in a puck past Buffalo goalie, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who was not exactly standing on his head this game, but he made the saves he needed to make.
Brind’Amour pulled Dustin Tokarski with about three minutes left in the game and Martin Necas blasted in a goal on a one-timer from the slot area to make it, 3-2.
It looked for a short time that the Hurricanes might pull a rabbit out of their hats and steal a point they did not deserve, but they could not do anything the rest of the game.
And in true Carolina fashion, after holding the Sabres to zero shots on goal for the entire third period, Buffalo would make it 4-2 as they were awarded a goal without benefit of a shot when Brent Burns slashed McLeod going to the empty net.
After the game, Tage Thompson ended up getting credit for the goal.
The Hurricanes will next face Vegas at the Lenovo Center on Friday night.
