Saros stymies Carolina once again
The Carolina Hurricanes outplayed and outshot the opposition for much of the game but came up on the short side of a 3-1 outcome to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night at the Lenovo Center.
The Preds scored on their first attempt of the game when a harmless shot off to the side of the net somehow got behind Pyotr Kochetkov, and Michael Bunting tucked it in to make it, 1-0.
In the meantime, Juuse Saros was standing on his head at the other end of the rink.
Nashville would score again on their first shot of the second period and the home team responded by not allowing another shot on goal until late in the period.
The Canes outshot the Preds, 16-2 in that decisive period.
Down 2-0, red hot Taylor Hall scored a powerplay goal to make things close, but the Canes could not get another puck past Saros.
Nashville would score an insurance goal in the third to close things out.
The Canes had 35 shots on goal for the game compared to 16 for the Predators.
Carolina will take the day off on Wednesday and then will prepare for the next game which will be against Montreal on Friday night.
