The Hurricanes looked like the team that won eight games in a row as they dismantled Las Vegas.
The Carolina Hurricanes jumped out to an early lead and just kept on rolling as they defeated the Las Vegas Golden Knights, 5-2 on Monday night at T Mobile Arena.
Eric Robinson tipped in a Sean Walker shot to get things started at 4:24 into the game.
About eight minutes later, Jesperi Kotkaniemi knocked in his own rebound to make it 2-0 and the Canes were cooking.
The visitors outshot the home team in that period, 16-4.
Jordan Staal would score a shortie early in the second and Tyson Jost would get on the scoresheet when a Jaccob Slavin shot glanced in off his leg while he was crashing the net.
With a 4-0 lead, the Canes had the game well in hand in the third although Vegas would score twice in the period, one with just 13 seconds left in the game.
Jordan Martinook scored an empty netter with five minutes left to close out the scoring for Carolina.
Next up will be a contest against Utah on Wednesday night.

- Kotkaniemi led the team in shots on goal with 6. He also won 79% of his faceoffs.
- Necas has a 10 game assist streak and has 21 points in that span.
- Pyotr Kochetkov had an excellent game. He made 30 saves on 32 shots.
