The Canes put an end to their losing streak with a win against Colorado.
The Carolina Hurricanes got back to their game and defeated the Colorado Avalanche, 5-3 on Thursday night at the Lenovo Center.
Andrei Svechnikov had a career best four point night, (1G 3A), Martin Necas had a goal and an assist, and Sebastian Aho had two assists to lead the home team.
The Canes did allow the Avs to break in behind the defense a few times but more often than not, Pyotr Kochetkov was up to the task.
The goalie allowed three goals on 19 shots.
Carolina outshot the visitors 35-19.
Eric Robinson tipped in a Burns shot to even the score at one in the opening period.
Seth Jarvis scored a powerplay goal four minutes into the second period and was followed by Jack Roslovic’s 13th goal of the season.
Necas scored his 14th of the season late in the third period during another powerplay.
Svechnikov buried an empty-netter to put it away after the Avs scored to claw back within one.
Next up, the Canes will travel to Long Island to take on the Islanders late Saturday afternoon.
