Carolina with their fifth win in a row
Jack Roslovic scored his 100th career goal and Pyotr Kochetkov earned his career best 24th win of the season as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, 4-1 on Tuesday night at the Lenovo Center.
This was a true team effort as every line contributed to the win. Carolina is streaking as they have now won five games in a row.
The Canes skated into the dressing room after one period with a 1-0 lead, even though they had been outshot and out-chanced in the period.
This was thanks to a perfectly placed shot by Seth Jarvis who roofed a shorthanded chance over the shoulder of Andrei Vasilevskiy.
It was the winger’s 26th goal of the season.
The Canes came out in the second period and took over the game.
After the all-star Lightning goalie stopped a couple of grade A chances, Jordan Martinook squeaked a goal past him to make it 2-0.
Then with less than a minute left in the period, Taylor Hall fed Roslovic a perfect pass during a two-on-one rush and number 96 made no mistake, beating Vasilevskiy short side to make it 3-0 after two periods.
The Lightning scored to start off the third period, but Sean Walker would make it 4-1 less than two minutes later and that score would hold up.
The Carolina powerplay had a rough night and finished up 0-5 but the penalty kill was perfect again.
The Hurricanes will finish up their homestand on Friday night against the Red Wings.
