Pyotr Kochetkov earned his first shutout of the season with a 32 save performance against the Islanders.
The Carolina Hurricanes were looking to get even with the New York Islanders after losing to them 11 days ago and that is exactly what they did with a 4-0 win on Tuesday night at the Lenovo Center.
Pyotr Kochetkov was the star of the show in this one as he made 32 saves on 32 shots to earn his first shutout of the season, some of them outstanding.
The Islanders certainly had their fair share of chances but could not solve the young Carolina goalie.
The Canes jumped out early five minutes and change into the first after a goal by Andrei Svechnikov while on the powerplay.
Jordan Martinook made it 2-0 later in the first when he knocked in a shot from in close with help from Jordan Staal. That was his second goal in as many games.
Tyson Jost made a nice shot midway through the second for his second goal this season with Carolina.
Sebastian Aho would close out the scoring as he and Eric Robinson completed a perfect 2 on 1 opportunity.
Next up for the Hurricanes is a match against the Caps on Friday night.
