Andersen wins sixth straight and Blake has a three point night to lead Canes
The Carolina Hurricanes dominated the Montreal Canadiens and went on to defeat them, 4-1 on Friday night at the Lenovo Center.
The Canes allowed a bare minimum “shots on goal” stat while outshooting the Habs, 11-4 in the first period and 9-3 in the second. They ended up with a 25-15 advantage for the game.
Frederik Andersen was not busy in net but was up to the task when needed as he picked up his sixth win in a row.
Rookie, Jackson Blake broke through with his first three point night (1G 2A), in his short career.
Taylor Hall stayed hot as he scored another goal, his fifth in three games, while playing in his 900th career game. This was during a powerplay advantage.
The game did not start out the way the home team envisioned as Montreal scored just 23 seconds into the contest.
But Carolina had an answer, and they did so quickly. Just 18 seconds later, Jackson Blake was credited for what he described as a “lucky bounce” and the score was tied.
The score stayed tied until Hall scored his powerplay tally, 13:46 into the second.
Shortly after that, Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis, and Blake executed a perfect rush ending with Jarvis feeding Aho, who ripped in a beautiful shot to make it, 3-1 Carolina.
The score stayed that way until Andre Svechnikov scored an empty-netter to close things out.
The Canes will practice Saturday before taking on the New York Islanders on Sunday.
