Frederik Andersen makes 24 saves on 25 shots to back stop Canes to win
The Carolina Hurricanes jumped out to a lead in this game and held on to defeat the Detroit Red Wings, 2-1 on Tuesday night.
Frederik Andersen broke his personal four game losing streak and made 24 saves on 25 shots to earn the win.
Jordan Martinook got the scoring started with just a minute left in the opening period when he zipped a nifty backhander past Detroit goalie, Alex Lyon.
Jordan Staal made the score 2-0 when he tucked in a wrap-around goal just a minute and change into the second.
Detroit scored their goal midway through the third but they were unable to light the lamp again.
Martinook picked up the assist on Staal’s goal, so had a two point night.
The Canes will return home for a game against the Bruins on Thursday night.
