Fresh off their most embarrassing performance of the year on Friday night, Carolina looks to bounce back against Columbus
The Columbus Blue Jackets (12-13-5) are rolling into Raleigh on Sunday for a 5:00 PM showdown with the Carolina Hurricanes (18-10-1).
Carolina is coming off of a tough loss on Friday night, as they were blanked for the second time in six games in a 3-0 loss to the Ottawa Senators.
The Canes are struggling overall of late to the tune of a 4-5-1 record in their last 10, and they have fallen to third in the Metropolitan Division in points percentage behind New Jersey and Washington.
Columbus is coming in on the second half of a back-to-back. The Jackets were at home in the Buckeye State last night, and they dropped a 4-3 decision in overtime to the Anaheim Ducks.
The Jackets have gotten great performances from a few of their players this season, led by a career year by Zach Werenski, who leads the team in scoring with 31 points on 10 goals and 21 assists while chewing up over 26 minutes per night.
Kirill Marchenko is having a breakout year with 28 points in 30 games, including a team-high 11 goals, while veteran center Sean Monahan has made good on the hopes his off-season signing brought to the club with 25 points. Despite missing some time due to injury, the promising youngster Kent Johnson is rounding in to form as well with 18 points in 16 games.
Pyotr Kochetkov had the net against Ottawa, and it seems likely he’ll be between the pipes again. If not, we’ll see the Hurricanes debut of Dustin Tokarski.
