Carolina continues its swing through New York with a visit to Madison Square Garden.
The Carolina Hurricanes are set for a 7:00 PM puck drop on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden for a key divisional showdown against the New York Rangers.
Playing their second game since the blockbuster deal that saw them acquire Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall, Carolina will look to bounce back from a 3-2 overtime loss to the New York Islanders.
This will be the third rematch this season of last year’s second round series in which the Rangers knocked Carolina out of the playoffs, and the Canes have emerged victorious in both games to this point, once in New York and once in Raleigh.
The Rangers were on a 10-game point streak that vaunted them back into wild card contention in the East before their last game on Saturday, but the Colorado Avalanche earned a thrilling 5-4 win at MSG as former Hurricanes Jack Drury (goal) and Martin Necas (two assists) made their presence felt for their new team.
After their lengthy cold stretch, the Rangers have gotten positive contributions from newcomers Arthur Kaliyev and Will Borgen, the latter of whom they signed to a five-year extension over the weekend.
As fellow top forwards Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider have struggled to produce this season for New York, Artemi Panarin has picked up the slack as of late, with 13 points during the Rangers’ 7-1-3 stretch.
Andersen will start for Carolina. Roslovic (ill) is a game-time decision. Stillman would play if Roslovic can’t go.

As the Hurricanes continue to go with their rotation between the pipes, Freddie Andersen will draw in tonight, according to Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal. Jack Rosolovic missed both Monday’s practice and Tuesday’s morning skate with an illness, and is a game-time decision, per Lavalette.
The Hurricanes look likely to use the same forward lines from the third period of the Islanders game, which saw Rantanen on the top line with Sebastian Aho and Jackson Blake while Taylor Hall skated with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Andrei Svechnikov.
Since the Rangers have had two full days off since their last action, expect Igor Shesterkin to man the crease for the Blueshirts.
