The Hurricanes look to keep their momentum rolling on the road.
The Canes begin a dense road trip Wednesday night against the Flyers.
The first of three games in a four-day span, Carolina (__) faces the first of a trio of Metro division opponents. The Hurricanes look to continue its early season success against a Philadelphia (__) squad looking to make up some lost ground in the division standings.
The Flyers had a five-game point streak going before falling 3-2 to the Avalanche last time out. Philly holds a 6-3-1 record in its last 10 games, indicating a higher quality foe its sub-.500 record on the season would suggest.
On the other end, Carolina rolls into town boasting a slew of weapons on the ice. Martin Necas leads the charge with his historic point streak of 13 games and counting. The Czech starlet’s put up 27 points in that span and made over a quarter of his shot attempts, shooting at a 27 percent clip.
Eric Robinson also puts up points in bunches early in the season, notching a goal and two assists in the Canes’ comeback win against St. Louis. His five goals and 12 points on the season already surpass his totals from last year.
Carolina and Philly roll out two of the league’s top five penalty kills at No. 5 and No. 4, respectively. Power play goals will be hard to come by, but both sides carry capable power play units as well. The Canes and Flyers rank eighth and 19th in that category, respectively.
