Raleigh welcomes the two new additions tonight.
Last night, season ticket members had their first opportunity to welcome Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall at an autograph session at Lenovo Center.
Tonight, the Carolina Hurricanes skate on home ice for the first time since the blockbuster trade.
Hall makes his first appearance against his former team, while Teuvo Teravainen returns to Raleigh for the first time since signing with Chicago this summer.
These teams met just 10 days ago in the Windy City, and Carolina won in overtime, 4-3.
Since that game, the Blackhawks are 1-1-1, while the Hurricanes are 3-0-1.
The biggest change since the last meeting was the acquisition of Hall from Chicago to Carolina. The Hawks’ three points were enough to climb out of last place in the league. Last week, San Jose’s six-game losing streak put the Sharks in the cellar.
On Tuesday, Chicago played a solid game in Tampa. After falling behind in the first, the Blackhawks scored four straight goals to earn the 4-1 road win.
Both Chicago’s two leading scorers, Connor Bedard and Teravainen, scored, while Seth Jones tallied two assists.
With Arvid Soderblom earning the win Tuesday night, expect former Canes goalie Petr Mrazek to make the start for Chicago.
The rumor from last night’s season ticket member autograph session is that Sebastian Aho has the flu. Let’s keep an eye on any official announcements from Carolina when the projected lines are announced.
Based on the recent goalie rotation, expect Pyotr Kochetkov to get the start.
Even if Kochetkov is between the pipes, the Canes will celebrate Frederik Andersen tonight. There will be a special ceremony for Andersen’s 500th NHL game.
