Canes drop second in a row and have now lost five of last six games
The Carolina Hurricanes had another rough night on the road as they dropped a 4-0 decision to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night.
The Canes fell behind 2-0 in the first period again, but this time could not get anything going in the offensive end to muster any type of comeback.
Carolina had just five shots on goal in the first period and six in the second. They had a total of 20 for the contest, but just 11 until the last seven minutes of the game.
The Habs had 18 shots on goal for the game.
Head coach Rod Brind’Amour was mixing up the lines at will, but could not seem to get much chemistry going.
After the game, the coach admitted that his team had lost it’s identity recently.
“To me, if you look at the identity of our team, it’s definitely changed in the last couple of weeks. We’ve changed the way that we play a little bit and that’s no knock on the guys that we brought in, they’re great players, but we have to remember how we play the game. I think we’ve changed a little bit and it’s clearly not working.”
It makes one wonder, how long will it take for the new players fit within the Brind’Amour system?
These performances will not quiet the endless rumors about Carolina considering flipping Mikko Rantanen.
Next up will be “Whaler’s Night” at the Lenovo Center against the Sabres on Thursday night.
