Another road loss for Carolina
The Carolina Hurricanes fell behind, 2-0 again in the first period and went on to a 5-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday night in Boston.
Former Canes, Morgan Geekie and Elias Lindholm were the initial goal scorers for the Bruins. Then David Pastrnak scored three straight while Carolina had trouble getting anything past Jeremy Swayman.
With less than a minute left in the game, Justin Robidas scored his first NHL goal on a nice shot that ruined the shutout for Swayman. Robidas was recently recalled by Carolina before the game last night against Detroit.
The Canes outshot the Bruins 40-26 for the game but for the second game in a row, it did not seem like the intensity was there for this game.
The Canes clinched a playoff spot with their win against the Capitals, so they probably fell a bit flat emotionally after that and have now lost two straight.
Frederick Andersen’s seven game winning streak came to an end.
Seth Jarvis played his 300th career game.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi left the game early as he tweaked something. We will hopefully have an update soon.
Next up for Carolina will be another road game, this time in Buffalo for a game on Tuesday night. Then comes Washington again.
