The Canes drop another one in Columbus.
The Carolina Hurricanes faced some unlucky bounces as they dropped a game to the Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday night in Columbus.
This is the second time this season the Canes lost in a shootout to the Jackets, their only losses of this type all season.
The Blue Jackets scored two goals directly off Carolina miscues.
On their second goal, Brent Burns bumped into Pyotr Kochetkov, keeping the goalie from full access to making a save on Karil Marchenko’s second goal of the night.
Dmitri Korovkov scored the game tying goal in the third period when his shot bounced in the net off of Seth Jarvis.
After Marchenko scored the game’s first goal, Ty Smith scored his first for Carolina during a powerplay opportunity to tie it.
In the second period, Jack Roslovic gave the Canes the lead 2-1 with his 17th of the season, which leads the team.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi made the score 3-1 on a nice backhander just a couple of minutes later.
But the Jackets would tie the score on the two previously mentioned goals.
After a scoreless overtime, the teams went to a shootout. Andrei Svechnikov scored for Carolina but the Jackets got goals from Kent Johnson and Adam Fantilli.
The Canes will travel to Florida for a game against the Panthers on Thursday night.
