Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, is beginning his brief stint behind bars that he caught as a result of a DWI incident he was arrested for in Tyler, Texas, back in early February.
According to TMZ Sports, Mahomes Sr. was booked into a Smith County jail Tuesday afternoon around 4:53 PM, and he took a new mug shot that was not nearly as jovial as the one he took at the time of his arrest when he was smirking into the camera.

After Mahomes Sr. serves the paltry 10 days in jail that he was sentenced to, he will serve five years of probation.
Police body camera footage shows that on the night of the arrest, which occurred on Feb. 3, Mahomes Sr. tried to get out of the bind he put himself in by invoking his son’s name while attempting to haggle with the arresting officers.

“My son is getting ready to play in the f***ing Super Bowl, OK? Just listen to me,” he said while sitting down in handcuffs. “I am not drunk. I promise you. I’ve had some drinks. But he can’t have this right now. Listen, this can’t happen.”
However, during his sentencing in September, after he pleaded guilty to DWI, Mahomes Sr. “told reporters he’s given up drinking in wake of the arrest,” TMZ reported. He’s expected to be released from jail just in time to celebrate Halloween.
It’s never a bad time to remind folks that drunk driving is no joke. You’re not just putting yourself in danger, you’re endangering everyone else who is on the road. Even a Super Bowl game that your son is playing in just isn’t worth it.
Be safe out there, y’all.
