The Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets have talked about a trade that would send P.J. Washington to Dallas. The Mavericks started pursuing Washington when trade talks went nowhere for Kyle Kuzma of the Washington Wizards.
The Mavs have been aggressive in trying to upgrade their frontcourt. Dallas has primarily targeted players who can play the four, as their offseason sign-and-trade for Grant Williams hasn’t paid the dividends they hoped for.
Washington is in Year 1 of the three-year, $46.5 million deal he re-signed with Charlotte on this past summer. The 25-year-old power forward’s contract is for $16.8 million this season and declines each year, ending at $14.2 million in 2025-26
