The Charlotte Hornets have fully guaranteed Mason Plumlee’s $9.1 million contract for the 2022-23 season. Charlotte had until end of day on Tuesday to waive Plumlee. The Hornets would have had to eat roughly half of his salary in guaranteed money.
The Hornets acquired Plumlee in a draft-day deal last offseason. He went on to start 73 games for Charlotte.
In those 73 appearances, Plumlee averaged 6.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 24.6 minutes per game. The upcoming season is the final season of a three-year deal that Plumlee initially signed with the Detroit Pistons.
