After an outstanding college and NBA career, Kemba Walker is officially hanging up his sneakers for good.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, the former No. 9 pick shared a written statement with his fans — thanking all of those who came along on and took this journey with him.
“Basketball has done more for me than I could’ve ever imagined,” Walker began. “With that, I’m here to share that I am officially retiring from the game … This has all been a dream. When I look back, I still can’t believe the things I achieved in my career.”
“I know I couldn’t have made it this far without my incredible support system around me,” Kemba continued. “There are so many people to thank … Basketball will forever be a part of my life so this isn’t goodbye. I’m excited for what’s next.”

Walker leaves the game a four-time All-Star, All-NBA player and two-time Sportsmanship Award winner.
From 2011-2018, the shifty 6’0″ point guard was the leading star of Charlotte’s franchise before brief stints with the Celtics, Knicks and Mavericks.
Nicknamed “Cardiac Kemba” for his penchant for coming up clutch in the game’s biggest moments, Walker led Connecticut to a national championship in 2010 and was named a consensus All-American as a junior.
Cheers to the Bronx, NY native on a memorable 12 years in the Association.
