CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The Hornets will have a new face for its TV sideline reporter this season.
Ashley ShahAhmadi is out after six years in the position working for the Bally Sports Hornets broadcast team, she announced on social media Monday. She did not say what her next venture is.
On Tuesday, the team announced Shannon Spake will fill the role, working alongside the duo of announcers Eric Collins and Dell Curry.
ShahAhmadi also reports for the Atlanta Braves Bally Sports broadcast. She posted the following:
Without getting too sappy… I just want to say thank you, thank you to the fans for being so welcoming from the start… thank you to the Hornets organization and Bally Sports for the wonderful opportunity. … And to our crew, our broadcast family – Eric, Dell and company… you all already know how I feel about you. It’s no coincidence that every person we would meet genuinely said, ‘you guys look like you actually love working together.’ That was the case night in and night out.

Spake previously was part of Fox Sports’ NASCAR and NFL coverage. She also has worked for ESPN.
“See you on the sideline @ShannonSpake! Welcome back to the fam!” the Hornets posted on X.
ShahAhmadi came to Charlotte with big shoes to fill. She took over for basketball pioneer Stephanie Ready, who served the role since the Charlotte Bobcats inception in 2004.
This is just the latest change for the Hornets entering the 2024-25 season. The team will also have a new head coach (Charles Lee) and general manager (Jeff Peterson), while renovations are underway at Spectrum Center.
