Christmas Day is the marquee day on the NBA schedule. For one team, playing on Christmas is an experience they’re still waiting for.
The Charlotte Hornets are the lone NBA franchise that has never been scheduled to play on Christmas Day. The current iteration of the Hornets has been around since they entered the league as the Charlotte Bobcats in 2004. The franchise also retains the records for the previous Hornets team that played in Charlotte from 1988 through 2002.
Beyond the Hornets, the longest Christmas Day droughts in the NBA belong to the Sacramento Kings (2003), Indiana Pacers (2004) and Detroit Pistons (2005).
