Boston Celtics assistant coach Charles Lee is a busy man these days. Lee is trying to help Boston win a record 18th NBA Finals, while also gearing up to take over as the next head coach of the Charlotte Hornets.
“The biggest thing is focusing on the right now, which I need to. When my Celtics hat is on, I’m fully engaged. That is where my mind is at,” Lee said. “When I leave the arena, all of the sudden you have to think about your staff and connecting with your players and what does the training camp and summer league look like. I’ve been making pretty good progress.”
Lee has met with several Hornets players since getting the job last month, both in person and virtually. He’s also had an opportunity to visit workouts, plus several Hornets attended a Celtics playoff game. Lee called building connections with his players his “biggest commitment” when he has had downtime during the Celtics Finals run.
