However, whenever Hayward was in uniform and available, the Hornets knew they had a chance to win. He doesn’t demand the ball or require a high usage rate. Hayward has shown in his 14 seasons that his best trait is that he impacts winning. “Yeah, you know, I haven’t been winning as much as I’d want to here in Charlotte, but we’ve had some unlucky injuries throughout the course of that,” he acknowledged. “I think when it’s all said and done, I think that’s something I want to be remembered for — somebody that helped their team win games, whether that was scoring, defending, rebounding, playmaking, whatever it is. I’ve had so many different roles, too, over the years. But I think most importantly, I try to play the game to win and try to make it easier for other people.”
