Wake Forest men’s basketball has hit the transfer portal hard this offseason.
Having already landed guards Hunter Sallis (Gonzaga) and Kevin Miller (Central Michigan), the Demon Deacons added a commitment from Gonzaga transfer center Efton Reid on Thursday afternoon.
“Wake Forest lands another former five-star recruit from Gonzaga! Hunter Sallis & Efton Reid will reunite in Winston-Salem next season,” said the “One Shining Podcast” Twitter account in response to the news.

“With the addition of Efton Reid, Wake Forest now has the full 13 scholarships for next season. Of course 1 hinges on Bobi Klintman’s decision. The Deacs certainly improved on the defensive side this Spring and added a whole lot of versatility,” added the Deacon Sports Twitter account.

“I say again: womp womp. #LetsGoVCU,” added a VCU fan who is disappointed that Reid didn’t pick the Rams instead of Wake Forest.

Reid began his college career at LSU in 2021-22, where he averaged 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in 34 starts.
He transitioned into a reserve role at Gonzaga, appearing in only 25 games and averaging 4.6 minutes per outing. Reid will likely see an increase in playing time at his new program.
Wake Forest is coming off a 19-14 season, the program’s second-straight winning campaign under head coach Steve Forbes.
