Saturday was a painful day for South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer, in more ways than one.
First, Beamer’s team blew a 10-point fourth quarter lead in a 41-39 loss to Florida. Then, the third-year head coach suffered a broken foot expressing his frustrations postgame.
Beamer revealed Tuesday that he broke his foot when he “kicked something I shouldn’t have kicked.”
“I care. I care about these kids. I was frustrated I didn’t do enough to get us over the hump,” Beamer said, via On3’s Mike Uva.

The loss dropped the Gamecocks to 2-4 on the season heading into this weekend’s trip to take on No. 20 Missouri.
Reaching a third-straight bowl game under Beamer is going to be a tough task, as, in addition to Mizzou, South Carolina still has Texas A&M, Kentucky and Clemson on the schedule.
The Gamecocks will have to find a way to split those four games and beat Vanderbilt and Jacksonville State in order to finish 6-6 and be bowl eligible.
