The LSU Tigers may be the defending national champions but coach Kim Mulkey knows who the best team in women’s college basketball is.
Ahead of the program’s highly-anticipated matchup with South Carolina tomorrow night, Mulkey had plenty of great things to say about the Gamecocks. Calling Dawn Staley’s program the best in the country right now at Wednesday’s media session:
They just reload. They’re that good. They were that good last year. I said it last year and I’ll say it again, they’re the best team in the country, but the best team doesn’t always win. … But we’ve got our hands full. No one seems to have come up with the magic solution to beat them and we’re gonna try. We’re gonna get our chance on Thursday. I know the fans will be there. I know they’ll cheer hard. I know our players will play hard and that’s all you can ask.
Kim Mulkey says no one has beaten South Carolina and #LSU is just like everyone else, it’s trying to upset the Gamecocks.

South Carolina is a perfect 17-0 to start the year and have beaten their last five opponents by an average of 33 points.
The Gamecocks get it done as a team too with five players averaging double-digit points and a deep pool of talent off the bench that can step in and get it done.
Thursday night’s game will be broadcast on ESPN at 8 PM ET from Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
