South Carolina blew a 10-point lead late in Saturday’s 41-39 loss to Florida. If the bitter ending wasn’t painful enough, Shane Beamer compounded his misfortunes with a self-inflicted wound.
Per On3’s Mike Uva, Beamer revealed that he broke his foot when he “kicked something he shouldn’t have kicked” in frustration.
“I care. I care about these kids,” Beamer said. I was frustrated I didn’t do enough to get us over the hump.”

Onlookers responded to Beamer’s avoidable injury, with many fans joking about him finding someone else at fault.
“After seeing the way he has handled himself after losses I’m not too surprised,” Dan Wolken of Yahoo Sports said. “Dial it back just a bit Shane! You don’t need to hurt yourself.”

The Gamecocks jumped to a 37-27 lead with nine minutes remaining. However, the Gators regained the lead when Graham Mertz threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Ricky Pearsall in the closing minute.
Spencer Rattler threw for 313 yards and four touchdowns, but a late interception sealed a Florida win at Williams-Brice Stadium.
South Carolina dropped to 2-4, bringing Beamer’s team one loss away from matching last season’s tally. A difficult schedule won’t get any easier when the Gamecocks face No. 20 Missouri this Saturday.
