Dawn Staley was still in a joking mood following South Carolina’s huge win over LSU.
After defeating the reigning national champions on Thursday night, the South Carolina head coach was asked about an unfriendly Baton Rouge crowd. Staley responded that the fans “were calling me boo.”
Staley referenced her own quip by wearing a hoodie that said “Boo” during Sunday’s 91-74 win over Vanderbilt.

In one of the biggest games of the year, Staley’s Gamecocks prevailed with each starter tallying double-digit points. South Carolina outscored LSU by 24-14 in the final quarter.
“It was a game of runs,” Staley said, per ESPN’s
Alexa Philippou. “They made big plays. We made big plays. The team that made the last play was the one that was going to win this basketball game.”
Tigers fans probably weren’t affectionately calling Staley “Boo” when jeering the opposing head coach. And before Mr. Smithers tries to argue otherwise, they likely weren’t saying “Boo-awn” either.
However, at least one South Carolina fan responded to Staley’s claim with a “Hey Boo” sign. A more welcoming Columbia crowd watched the Gamecocks improve to 19-0 behind 23 points from senior Kamilla Cardoso.
Staley can pretend Auburn fans are calling her Boo when South Carolina goes to Neville Arena on Thursday night.
