Caitlin Clark’s career at Iowa will come to an end this Sunday, but not before she gets to face South Carolina in the national championship game.
Last year, Iowa and South Carolina met in the national semifinals. Clark dropped 41 points in what may be considered the best performance of her career.
After Iowa defeated UConn in the Final Four on Friday night, Clark was asked about this weekend’s rematch against South Carolina.
Even though South Carolina is 38-0 this season, Clark believes Iowa can pull off the upset.
“Just enjoy every single second. This is the last 40 minutes of the season for everyone on the court, so why not go out there and give it everything you got? They’re a talented team. They’ve been the top of the top all year long. They’ve played at a different level,” Clark said. “But anybody can be beat on any given day, and we truly believe that. We should know that better than anybody else. We’ll be going into it believing we can win. Our group will be ready.”
That’s a great message from Clark, who’ll need to be great this Sunday in order for Iowa to win.
Clark can’t do it alone, though. Iowa will also need Kate Martin, Gabbie Marshall, Sydney Affolter and Hannah Stuelke to step up like they’ve been doing throughout this tournament.
Tipoff for the Iowa-South Carolina game is set for 3 p.m. ET.
