After a breakout season with the Alabama Crimson Tide that included a dazzling game against Clemson in the Elite Eight, forward Nick Pringle entered the transfer portal. Today, he revealed where he’ll be playing next season.
On Saturday, On3 Sports reported that Pringle is leaving Alabama and joining the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Gamecocks went 26-8 last season, finishing as the No. 25 team in the country and reaching the NCAA Tournament.
Pringle hails from South Carolina and previously attended Wofford before spending the 2021-22 season at Dodge City (KS) Community College. The move will keep him closer to home.
Pringle joined the Crimson Tide in 2022 and played 36 games for the team, averaging 3.5 points and 3.1 rebounds coming off the bench.
The 2023-24 season saw Pringle become a much bigger part of Alabama’s season. He started 16 of 34 games and averaged 6.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 18.4 minutes played per game.
Pringle joins a South Carolina team that only recently landed another prized SEC player from the transfer portal – now-former Missouri star Jordan Butler.
The arrow certainly appears to be pointing up for the Gamecocks. In the first six years after their Cinderella run to the Final Four, the school just couldn’t build off the momentum and ultimately fired head coach Frank Martin.
In their first year under Lamont Paris, things didn’t improve. But this past year he led the Gamecocks to a school record 25 regular season wins.
Paris seems to know what he’s doing and Pringle could help him get the program over the top next year.
