MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WNCN) — The North Carolina men’s basketball team is heading to Memphis next month to play in a charity game for a children’s hospital.
According to UNC sports information, the Tar Heels and the Memphis Tigers will face off in the inaugural Hoops for St. Jude Tip Off Classic on Oct. 15. at FedEx Forum. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
The game will be part of a double-header, with the national champion South Carolina women’s team squaring off against the Memphis women in the other game. Proceeds from the event will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is located just a couple miles from FedEx Forum.
Tickets for the Hoops for St. Jude Tip Off Classic go on sale at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or the arena’s box office. In addition to all the proceeds from ticket sales going to St. Jude, the teams will also fundraise for the hospital from Oct. 1 to 19 through Tiltify, UNC’s sports information department said.
The Tar Heels open their 2024-25 regular season at home against Elon on Nov. 4.
