CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – One of the best high school players in North Carolina is keeping his talents in the Tar Heel State for his college basketball career.
Davidson Day School standout Isaiah Denis pledged his commitment to North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis and his program in front of a packed gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
During a ceremony at his high school, Denis picked up a light blue cap with the letters “NC” labeled on it – just before announcing UNC as his collegiate choice.
The 6-foot-5 combo guard selected the Tar Heels over numerous finalists, including Ohio State, Miami, Tennessee, Pittsburgh and Wake Forest, among others.
Denis becomes the second member of the 2025 recruiting class for UNC, along with four-star guard Derek Dixon, who committed to the Tar Heels in September.
The Davidson native is ranked as the No. 62 overall recruit nationwide in his class as well as the 2nd best player in North Carolina, according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings.
Known as a dynamic scorer who’s very capable of putting the ball in the basket in various ways, Denis led the Patriots to the NCISAA 2A state title during his junior season, racking up 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the championship game.
