CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – Seth Trimble is coming back to Chapel Hill.
After spending two weeks pursuing other options through the transfer portal, Trimble is returning to the University of North Carolina for his junior season, he announced on Tuesday.
“I’ve taken time to realize where my home is,” Trimble said in a released statement on social media. “After much consideration, I’ve decided my heart and soul belong in Chapel Hill. Tar Heel Nation, let’s work.”
Known as a reliable sixth man off the bench and a tenacious defender, the 6-foot-3 guard averaged 5.2 points per game this past season, which is a three-point improvement from his freshman year. He’s played in 68 games over the last two years and shot 41.9% from the three-point line as a sophomore.
Similar to his older brother, former UNC forward J.P. Tokoto, Trimble amazed fans with his high-flying acrobatics above the rim as a dunker. He’s become a valuable member of the Tar Heels, which ended up winning the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season championship and secured a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament last year.
With Trimble officially back in the fold, Hubert Davis and his coaching staff now have four open scholarship spots for the 2024-25 season.
