TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WNCN) — Since losing at Clemson on Feb. 10, the North Carolina men’s basketball team hasn’t dropped another game, and they’re hoping to keep that streak going Monday night on a short turnaround.
The Tar Heels (17-11 overall, 10-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) visit the Florida State Seminoles (16-11, 7-9 ACC) Monday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Tucker Center.
UNC’s current three-game winning streak is a timely surge for the Tar Heels, who are hoping to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. They’ve notched wins at Syracuse and over NC State and Virginia at home in the last two weeks and are up to sixth in the ACC standings. In their win over the Cavaliers on Saturday, the Tar Heels offense was balanced, with Jae’lyn Withers and Ian Jackson scoring 16 apiece.
Florida State has won three of their last five games but is coming off a loss at Louisville on Saturday. Jamir Watkins had a team-high 23 points for the Seminoles in the losing effort to the league’s second-best team. FSU is currently eighth in the ACC, three games behind UNC.
The Tar Heels are idle until the weekend, when they host Miami on Saturday afternoon.
