CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — For the second game in a row, the Tar Heels are playing on a snowy night. This time, however, they’re at home and facing hated rival NC State.
North Carolina (15-11 overall, 8-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) and NC State (10-15, 3-11) are set to square off at the Smith Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
UNC held off the Orange in Syracuse on Saturday, winning 88-82. Ian Jackson broke out of a recent slump to score 23 points off the bench to lead the Tar Heels. Jae’lyn Withers had 19 points and six rebounds before fouling out of the game, while RJ Davis filled the stat sheet with 16 points, five boards and six assists.
The Wolfpack snapped a nine-game losing streak Saturday, topping Boston College 70-62. In the win at the Lenovo Center, Jayden Taylor scored 19 points to lead NC State. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield was the only other Pack player to score in double figures with 11, but every player scored in a balanced NC State offense.
The Tar Heels and Wolfpack both play at home for their next games. NC State hosts Wake Forest early Saturday afternoon, while Carolina hosts another longtime rival, Virginia, late Saturday afternoon.
