CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — After double-digit victories over SMU and Cal this month, North Carolina men’s basketball is looking to make it a clean sweep of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s newest members.
The Tar Heels (12-6 overall, 5-1 ACC) host Stanford (11-6, 3-3) Saturday afternoon at the Smith Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:15 p.m.
UNC enters the contest on a four-game winning streak, having not lost since a New Year’s Day defeat at Louisville. Though that stretch includes the big wins over SMU and Cal, it also encompasses two that came down to the wire: a 74-73 win over Notre Dame thanks to a four-point play by Elliot Cadeau, and a 63-61 victory over rival NC State last Saturday in Raleigh.
Ian Jackson has been leading the Tar Heels in scoring throughout the win streak, averaging 21.5 points across the four games.
Stanford is coming off an 80-67 loss at Wake Forest on Wednesday, but the Cardinal could prove to be a test for UNC. Maxime Reynaud, Stanford’s 7’1″ center from France, is averaging 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds so far this season to lead the team.
Up next for the Tar Heels is a trip up the interstate to Winston-Salem to face Wake Forest on Tuesday night.
