PITTSBURGH (WNCN) — It took some extra time on the clock, but the Tar Heels men’s basketball team got back into the win column over the weekend and will try to build on that in their first out-of-state road game since the beginning of the month.
North Carolina (13-8 overall, 6-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) plays at Pitt (13-6, 4-4) late Tuesday night. The two teams are scheduled to tip off at 9 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
UNC had to battle to overcome Boston College — currently the second-worst team in the ACC by record — in overtime in Chapel Hill Saturday. In the Tar Heels’ 102-96 win, RJ Davis scored 22 points and added five assists and five rebounds to lead the team, while Seth Trimble recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards.
The Panthers are also coming off a win, which ended a four-game skid. Pitt won at Syracuse on Saturday by a score of 77-73. Jaland Lowe led the team with 22 points and six assists, while veteran guard Ishmael Leggett contributed 16 points and six rebounds.
The Tar Heels head back to North Carolina for their next game — their traditional matchup with archrival Duke the first weekend of February. The first edition of the Battle for Tobacco Road in 2025 tips off in Durham at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
